Blab for Interviewing: Fun, Easy {Leadership Visibility!}

It was super fun being interviewed on Blab, by Brighton West last week.  If you weren’t able to make it and you’ve never seen a Blab click this Blab and you can watch it!

I realized that using Blab to interview your:

• colleagues

• collaborators

• favorite clients

is truly the easiest, ‘funnest’ way to use interviewing as a way to stand out as a leader and be visible both on video AND social media!

That is if you LIKE interviewing people!!  Not everyone does, but if you do, it’s an easy way not to have to take up the WHOLE SPOTLIGHT!  You get to share it and build someone else up while being the holder of the space and the leader of the interview.

This is one (of many!) great ways for HSPs- Highly Sensitive Preneurs- to own your leadership!

HSPs are deep and interested in others and make awesome interviewers as they really listen and pick up on subtleties.

And as I learned from this interview, you
don’t have to fill the other 2 spots in the Blab- as there is room for 4 people to
be Live, but this gets chaotic and harder to be the leader when your’ managing 3 other people, some of whom might like to take over, which I found when I led a Blab with 3 people, rather than 1.

Keep it simple in the beginning and just interview 1 person and take questions from the comments on the side.  This makes it a lot less energetically overwhelming.

And if you find all the commentary on the side is too distracting from the interview, which I totally get… then perhaps traditional interviewing on Zoom, Google Hangouts or Skype of Video (if you’re both in the same room!) may be a better choice for you.

Trust yourself to do what feels best.  No way is better than another.

Here are some benefits of Blab:

  1. It is a stable platform and much easier than Google Hangouts in my opinion.
  2.  It is easy to share the link to sing up on Facebook and beyond.
  3. It’s easier to see comments and interact with a ‘live’ audience
  4. The replays are available immediately and easy to share on Facebook and your list etc…
  5. You get exposed to all the Blabbers!
To get started with Blab
  1. launch Google Chrome web browser!
  2. Then go to http:www.Blab.im  and get started!

Play with it!  And see for yourself if you want to try interviewing with it.

Here are some tips for a great collaborative experience on Blab:

  • Have fun and make it like a casual conversation between friends
  • Use to build rapport with your interviewee and build each other.
  • Have a few questions prepared and then improvise on the energy flowing between you.
  • Ask the audience if they have any questions to post them in the comments on the side and use any of these questions if they feel useful.
  • Make sure to let people know how they can reach you and let them know what you do at the beginning and at the end.  Mention your free gift if you want as well.
  • Let your interviewee offer their free gift and web address as well so that they are promoting themselves.
  • Let it be fun and a win win for both of you!

Blab/interviewing Strategy to expand your Visibility:

  • You can set up a monthly or every 2 weeks, or weekly interview series.
  • This provides a structure for you to be consistently visible to your tribe
  • You can trade interviews with your colleagues which is a great way to get exposed to other’s tribe as each of you promotes the interview to your tribe.

Let  me know in the comments  if you feel like interviewing is a way you’d like to be visible!  I’m curious!Cheering you on in your expanded Visibility!!

P.S. I’d love to hear if you’ve used Blab or are planning on trying it out!! Thank you for posting your comments below!
